What is knowthyself?
If you read all the books on this list you will start a process which
will eventually lead to you haveing a sense of "self" You will change
from feeling small, helpless and insignificant to being free.
Internally Free. Freedom that transcends external polictical, social,
cultural, environmental influences. Free as in univerally free. You
will understand freedom of will.
Know thyself is the suggested reading list for
an, as yet, unpublished book about understanding and letting go of
fear. Because while having a knowledge of the meaning and effect of
fear in ones life is fundemental; the mastering of our fears is in
reality a substantial and life long process. The books presented here
are suggested for addressing many important aspects of life which give
rise to fear. True power starts with taking personal responsibility,
attaining knowledge and moving through life with intent. The
knowthyself reading course is presented here for that purpose.
Who is this reading course for? Anyone who wants
to let go of their fear and take control of their lives by deciding
"who they are." Young or old, sick or healthy, out of control or sober;
doesn’t matter. These books and community are for those who want to
have an intimate awareness of what they do, why they do it and what
they are capable of.
How it works. Read. That’s how it works. There’s no other way.
The books are arranged in a "suggested" reading order based on building
a foundation of knowledge and perspective. Books earlier in the list
will provide information and facilitate a "process" which will aid you
in understanding and integrating books later on the list. There are no
"good," "better," or "best" books. They all represent an example of
"excellence" in their treatment of the subject. These books are all
"important" and have been chosen to impart a solid foundation, for you
to understand who you (just you, no one else) are. Some of these are
"classic" and some you may not have heard of. Some may seem "old
fashion." And while there is nothing "new under the sun," these books
represent some of the finest available examples of original, creative
and minimally derivative presentation. These books have been chosen to
take you through a "process" of self exploration. As you may notice in
the list of books by “subject" areas of basic human concern are
addressed.
Please understand, these books and the
KnowThyself program are not offered to be distracting, entertaining, or
to pander to anyone’s fears or desires. They are presented to you to
use as tools for the project of discovering "who" and "what" you are
and to aid in providing you insight into "where your place" in this
world, is. This reading list, project and community are designed for
you and you only. There are no “right” or “wrong” conclusions or ideas.
The concept is to take you anywhere you want to go and others where
they want to go. There is no conclusion to reach, life style to live,
thoughts to think; there is only your “process,” your “journey” and
ultimately your “sense of self.”
Read the books in the order presented. If a book
is too difficult, or upsetting, or boring, whatever, drop it and move
on to the next. When you finish the next, go back to the one you put
down and try to read it. If it still doesn’t work, drop it and read the
next and when you are finished go back to the one you dropped and try
to read it. Or you can read a long or difficult book in tandem, or
while you are reading the others on the list. Just keep reading,
whatever the pace you set or difficulties you may experience. This is
about “process” and not goals or conclusions. If you don’t read
consistently or entirely, the “process” may slow or stall and that
could well be your process, that’s OK, just keep reading whatever way
you can.
Read every book on the list. And while you are
reading the books on the “main” list, pick any of the "inspiration" or
"special focus" books that interest you while you are reading the
“Main" books. The “Inspiration” list is “ordered” from easy to read and
grasp to more difficult. But “inspiration” books are very “subjective”
and it is suggested while you want to always to be reading one, the
choice is yours as to which one “speaks to you” at any given time.
Note: This list, program and community are not
for everyone. As stated earlier, this project is not offered for
entertainment. It is not designed to sell something nor exploit
“wishes" and fantasy. However, this project is free and open to anyone,
anywhere who wants to take responsibility for their lives and
circumstances. Anyone willing to “trust” the suggestion of other
humans, as to the value of lessons in these books. And for those
willing to invest the effort in reading and working the books to attain
“self knowledge;” the value of which can not be calculated, but only
“known” to one personally.
If you have questions, concerns or wish to share your experience, you
can visit the “knowthyself” forum where you will find how to’s, faqs
